| New Jersey Orders More Than 1,600 Defibtech Defibrillators from LifeSavers, Inc.;
Multi-Million Dollar Program the Latest in a String of Statewide AED Deployments WEST CALDWELL, N.J. July 22, 2005 New Jersey has ordered 1,682 Defibtech automated external defibrillators (AED's) for statewide deployment from LifeSavers, Inc., an authorized distributor for the global AED manufacturer and a provider of emergency medical products and training. Defibtech officials said the order represents one of the largest public access AED deployments on record. Headquartered in West Caldwell, N.J., LifeSavers is distributing the Lifeline AED's as part of a three-year, multimillion-dollar contract for the state's Cooperative Purchasing Members (CPMs). LifeSavers President Bob Stickel said his company's previous experience deploying FDA-approved Defibtech AEDs in New Jersey's public buildings gave officials the confidence to continue the working relationship. We take great pride in providing the best AED product and service in the industry, he said. New Jersey's precedent-setting program will add a new dimension to the effort to reduce deaths from sudden cardiac arrest, said Defibtech CEO Dr. Glenn W. Laub, who also is chairman of cardiac surgery and director of the Heart Hospital at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, N.J. Over the past two years alone, LifeSavers has deployed Defibtech AEDs in a growing number of states including Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico and Utah. Defibtech's Lifeline and ReviveR have become the defibrillators of choice for large-scale, statewide deployments, Defibtech President Gintaras Vaisnys said. Defibtech AEDs can be found around the world in locations such as EMS, fire and police vehicles; offices and factories; and schools, gyms and other public places. The Defibtech AEDs feature biphasic defibrillation technology, self-testing capability, class leading user interface and voice prompts, longest operational battery life (up to 7 years), pediatric capability and a professional-grade rugged design. Even with this industry-leading feature set, the Defibtech AED is the value leader with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $1,495. This price includes everything a customer needs to completely deploy this lifesaving solution, including the AED, defibrillation pads and a 5-year 125-shock battery pack. The Defibtech AED has won numerous awards from prestigious competitions recognizing its design, ease of use and reliability, including the 2005 Gold Medical Design Excellence Award from Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry magazine. |
