Requirement Breakdown

  • Requirement effective upon bill signing. (February 23, 2012)
  • Requirement shall be incorporated into junior and senior high school curriculum.
  • CPR education does not need to cover all victim sizes (adult/child/infant) but does require a hands-on component to training
  • School districts must provide one time cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instruction in a class of their choosing.

Excerpts from Bill

“It is the intention of the section that students will learn the techniques and practice the psychomotor skills associated with performing CPR. For the purposes of this section, “psychomotor skills” means the use of hands-on practice and skills testing to support cognitive learning and shall not include cognitive-only training. SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.”
