New Jersey has requirements for Nurses/Nurse Practitioners - they must be certified by an accredited training center like LifeSavers, Inc. for CPR, PALS, and Basic Life Support (BLS).

As per the NJ Board of Nursing Law 13:37-16.4 Application for certification. Proof that the applicant has current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) from a course approved by the American Heart Association.

Most all Colleges, Universities and Hospitals in NJ, including Rutgers University, Princeton, Passaic County College, Essex County College, Seton Hall, William Paterson University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Bloomfield College, and many others only recognize CPR certification from the American Heart Association to be accepted for clinical rotations.
